Introverts Have Insightful Conversations

Never did I think that I would be the person that people would seek advice and counsel from. Growing up, I was scared to speak and always second-guessed whether what I was saying would be accepted. If I met my 13 year-old self today she would not be able to recognize the person that I am and that I am becoming.

As a child, I was scared to speak my mind or say what I thought because I felt small and insignificant. Childhood trauma also led me to the conclusion about myself. Unfortunately, my mother would say that I went through the things that I went through because of my small stature. I still, to this day, will declare that there is no reason for someone to be victimized in any way. But you know what, that’s the story of my life.

So, I took a stand a few years ago to fight for myself and the rights of others. It took me until I was in my late 30s to realize I had something to say about human rights and fairness. The straw that broke the camel’s back was that I was being victimized again for speaking up for the first time. And you know what, IT FELT GOOD!

My employees thanked me for speaking up and let me know that my situation was unjust, and this time, I had someone on my side to stand up for me. And that felt good, too! From that day on, I realized I had a voice…
